Improving coastal management in NSW using the sediment compartment approach

Campus Plus is excited to profile another interesting industry-university research collaboration made possible under the Australian Government Department of Education's National Industry PhD Program: University of Wollongong's Kerrylee Rogers, PhD candidate Dylan McLaughlin and NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water's Tom Doyle are working on a project to improve NSW coastal management.

The research team will develop a novel approach to predict the volume, movement, and distribution of sediment along the NSW coast due to sea-level rise, extreme storms and coastal erosion. The approach they establish will help governments manage these significant hazards by through more reliable and better informed Coastal Management Programs.
