Co-Designing Rehabilitation Pathways for Adults with Subclinical Hearing Difficulties Despite Normal Audiograms

Not all hearing challenges show up on a hearing test, yet subclinical hearing difficulties are a real problem!  This National Industry PhD Program PhD project is turning up the volume on this overlooked healthcare need.

The project, titled "Co-Designing Rehabilitation Pathways for Adults with Subclinical Hearing Difficulties Despite Normal Audiograms" aims to design a structured care pathway and standardised outcome measures to fill this gap in the treatment of hearing difficulties.

The research will be conducted by Catherine Kwok (pictured centre) who is both a researcher at National Acoustic Laboratories and a PhD candidate at The University of Queensland. The project will be done with academic support from Honorary Associate Professor Barbra Timmer (pictured right) and Emeritus Professor Louise Hickson AM (pictured left) from The University of Queensland, and the industry mentorship of Dr Bec Bennett and Dr Pádraig Kitterick from National Acoustic Laboratories.

With thanks to Diogo Quilice for facilitating the partnership. Congratulations to all involved!
