Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Shear Capacity and Flexural Strength of Super-Span Floor Systems
A project between EDGE Consulting Engineers and Griffith University has commenced, for an industry-focused PhD project aimed at addressing key challenges in the construction sector.
The project, titled " Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Shear Capacity and Flexural Strength of the modular Super-Floor System" focuses on addressing the limitations of traditional construction methods, including high costs, long project timelines, material waste, and environmental impact. Additionally, Australia faces challenges in adopting modular construction due to factory constraints and the lack of standardised design codes or specifications. The research focuses on evaluating the structural performance, sustainability, and affordability of the modular decking system to overcome these barriers.
This collaborative effort brings together the expertise of Dr Jeung-Hwan Doh from Griffith University, Mr Tim Peters, Chairman of EDGE Consulting Engineers and PhD Candidate Karan Makhija, and was facilitated by Brooke Cotton at Griffith University.
Congratulations everyone!
