Addressing Australia’s healthcare workforce crisis: development of a competent and safe healthcare professions workforce
Campus Plus is pleased to announce the commencement of an Australian Government Department of Education National Industry PhD Industry Researcher Award in South Australia.
How do we address Australia’s healthcare workforce crisis?
SA Pharmacy a statewide hospital pharmacy service has partnered with the University of South Australia to better understand education frameworks that support the development of a competent and safe healthcare professions workforce. With new frameworks being implemented across Australia that utilise entrustment as a basis for supporting workforce development, its critical that we understand how these frameworks are being used and how they can be optimised to support trainee and healthcare workforce development.
With over 30 hospitals using these frameworks across South Australia in pharmacy and medical education this project enables a deep dive into how these frameworks are used, implemented and impact on the learning of healthcare professionals. This work will involve a systematic review of the literature, and a grounded theory study to understand the process of entrustment for supervisors and trainees in the healthcare environment.
