Collaborative Pharmacist Medication Prescribing for Children and Young People in Australian Hospitals

Campus plus is delighted to announce a new collaborative project between Sydney Children's Hospitals Networkand UNSW!

The industry-linked PhD project, “Collaborative Pharmacist Prescribing for Children and Young People in Hospital”, will evaluate collaborative pharmacist prescribing models in paediatric hospital settings. It aims to improve patient safety while demonstrating the benefits of efficiency across clinical care and the broader health system throughout the patient journey.

Together, UNSW and SCHN bring complementary expertise that creates a powerful synergy between research and clinical practice. Leveraging UNSW’s expertise in pharmacy, health sciences, and translational research, and SCHN’s leadership in paediatric healthcare, this collaboration creates a unique opportunity to embed research within a specialist paediatric hospital and translate policy into real-world practice.

The project will generate robust evidence to inform future service planning and workforce strategies, while supporting design, implementation, and evaluation of innovative prescribing models in paediatric hospitals, ultimately advancing safe, effective and efficient care for young patients. This project is part of the National Industry PhD Program, delivered in partnership with Campus Plus, which supports industry-linked doctoral training that drives innovation, workforce development, and real-world impact.
