Developing and Evaluating Nursing Pathways

Developing and Evaluating Nursing Pathways: An evidence-based Career Progression Framework for Australian Nursing Workforce.

How do we ensure nurses remain in the profession not because they have to, but because they feel seen, heard, and valued—wherever they work and at every stage of their career?

Campus Plus is excited to share that a new National Industry PhD project is now underway—a collaboration between the Australian College of Nursing (ACN) and Flinders University, proudly supported by the Australian Government Department of Education.

The focus? Developing, implementing and e
valuating a Nursing Career Toolkit—a practical, user-friendly resource designed to help nurses navigate the many pathways this incredible profession offers.

Built on listening to nurses, the Nursing Pathways Project will translate their experiences and insights into meaningful tools. The Toolkit will:

  • Showcase the breadth and depth of nursing roles and opportunities

  • Provide career-mapping resources tailored to individual skills and interests

  • Support all nurses—from those considering a career in nursing, to early- career professionals, through to experienced practitioners seeking new directions

This project is a unique opportunity to collaborate with our national peak body for nursing, aligning research with industry needs to support Australia’s largest healthcare workforce.

The Nursing Pathways Toolkit is being developed by Australian nurses, for Australian nurses—no matter where you work, or what stage you’re at in your career.

Congratulations to the research team:
