Para Sport Coach Development - An Explorative Prospective Longitudinal Study

Campus Plus is pleased to announce the latest NIPhD Award commencement, bringing together the high‑performance Para sport coaching and athlete development capabilities of Australian Athletics and the inclusive sport, coach development and research expertise of The University of Queensland to explore evidence‑based approaches to Para coach development and athlete progression.

The project, “Building the Brisbane 2032 Legacy: A Longitudinal Study of High Performance Para Sport Coach Development” will investigate how the Gen32 Para Coach Development Program enhances coaching knowledge, confidence and skills through innovative methods such as autoethnography, concept mapping and audio diaries. The goal is to strengthen coaching capacity, increase participation and progression of athletes with a disability, and contribute to sustainable success in Australia’s high‑performance Para sport system

The research will be conducted by PhD candidate Olivia Clare (pictured right), with industry mentorship of Andrew Dawes from Australian Athletics and academic support from Associate Professor Steven Rynne from The University of Queensland.

A big thank you to Diogo
Quilice from the UQ Graduate School for facilitating the award.

Congratulations to all involved!
