Campus Plus provided an update on the National Industry PhD (NIPHD) programme. Round two received 128 applications for 44 awards, making it highly competitive. Minor guideline changes now allow exceptions to the 12-month PhD timeline under exceptional circumstances. Round one successful applicants must complete documentation checklists before kickoff meetings occur in September, with funding anticipated to flow from then onwards in six-monthly tranches. Round three is expected to open on 6 November and close on 15 December, featuring a new Salesforce-based platform to streamline the expression of interest and application process. The Campus Plus website will become the single point of truth for NIPHD information. The programme aims to reach 70 awards per round (140 annually) by round five, with extensive training and support available throughout.
