The event is part of the NIPhD Program’s training offering, an essential component of the NIPhD experience. Attendance is not mandatory but strongly encouraged for all candidates in both the industry linked and industry researcher streams. Academic and industry supervisors are also welcome.

The National Industry PhD Program covers the cost of the training and networking activities; it does not include the cost of any associated travel and/or accommodation to and from the event.re

The industry researcher training workshops are part of the Training Reimagined Program, that includes online webinars, in-person training, networking events and microcredentials.
In 2026, we are running two workshops in various locations around the country:
Workshop 1: Leadership styles, negotiation and conflict management
Workshop 2: Navigating career opportunities across academia industry and government
Each workshop runs for the whole day. You will need to choose to attend one for the whole day.
During the day, participants will have the opportunity to meet other award recipients and colleagues connected with the National Industry PhD Program as well as others involved in research translation and commercialisation.

This event will be conducted in-person only. It will be provided multiple times during the year across multiple locations. The NIPhD team will let all stakeholders know about upcoming workshops, and check the website periodically for updates.

Campus Plus is collaborating with expert facilitators both in person and online to provide this training offering of the National Industry PhD Program.
Campus Plus works alongside researchers and innovators to build collaborative partnerships between research, industry, community groups, and government to solve real-world problems.

NIPhD Program Training is an essential part of the NIPhD experience. Attendance is not mandatory but strongly encouraged for all candidates in both the industry linked and industry researcher streams. Academic and industry supervisors are also welcome to participate.

Training includes online core and extension webinars delivered though Platform Plus, in-person workshops delivered around the country by industry experts and a reflective practice. The training will cover four main themes:
Engagement, impact and communicating with stakeholders
IP, research integrity, First Nations and interdisciplinary research collaboration
Identifying and collaborating with potential partners
Uncovering the problems potential partners want to solve
Successful completion of each series will qualify you to obtain a microcredential, with a total of four available.
